I have been hit and miss in the studio of late, but I finally made it in last week and was able to complete two unfinished Mixed Media paintings. This first one is my Unicorn Girl painting.
The original is not quite as dark as it appears in this photo. I'm never quite happy with my scanned photos, even with my new scanner. But this will have to do. I've never attempted a unicorn or a horse before, so this is far from perfect. But I don't think it's too bad for a first try. I couldn't decide what to put in the background. I actually didn't intend for it to have a background when I started, but then I wondered if it maybe looked to empty there. So I added the butterfly to sort of balance out the composition. I thought that if I added any sort of scene in the far background that it would take away from the girl and the unicorn, so I was happy with just the added butterfly.
